Getting the right photographer can make or break your special day. Being able to look back on the day, which may go in a blur, and have memories pop back will be priceless in years to come. Thinking about whether you want just photographs or if you want to add in a videographer too can add to cost and demand on the actual day too.

On the day have a clear list of photographs you want the photographer to capture – ask them for their advice on set ups. Who from your bridal party will gather people into the right groups at the right time – or will you ask your MC? If time allows, consider a visit to the venue prior to the event so that you can visualise where shots will be taken. Make sure to check with the venue in case there are any areas out of bounds to you for photographs.

During photo time not everyone may be involved so always have a plan for what you would like people to do in this time, are they free to explore the local area or are there games and nibbles to keep everyone interacting as a party.

Top Tip : Have a practise session or two with your photographer. Get your engagement photos or some pre wedding family photos done to understand how your photographer works.
